چکیده

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) continues to be associated with outbreaks in communities (CA-MRSA) and hospitals (HA-MRSA). MRSA isolates are known resistant all beta-lactam antibiotics including methicillin. Moreover, HIV-infected individuals highly at risk of CA-MRSA due their weaker immune system. It is therefore important keep surveillance the prevalence. Our study aims determining prevalence among participants, bacteria’s associations, antibiotic susceptibility patterns. A cross-sectional was conducted nasal swabs from 657 participants attending HIV clinic Cape Coast Teaching Hospital were taken following guidelines. Confirmed S. through tests per Kirby–Bauer method, that cefoxitin considered MRSA. The carriage 44.7% 8.2%, respectively, individuals. There a significant association between hospitalization colonization (p = 0.002), but not 0.266). Significant also observed age 0.001), sex 0.0001), colonization. Similarly, differences groups 0.02), statistically 0.001). High percentage resistance exhibited by most antibiotics. However, this did record vancomycin strains. showed high patients, which mostly
